Hi RFB

On a side note the Control Center uses three UM-3 batteries as back up for the memory. They look just like AAs. Can anybody tell me their difference?

Please upload some closeups of the batteries, showing any relevant information that might be on them.
Please also place a rule next to them some we can tell the size.

Regards Dr. Bob

Sorry for the delayed response Dr. Bob. It is a pain unscrewing what I have to unscrew to get under this beast. I've decided to get around to it.

So here are the close ups. I put them up against a AA for size reference. Most the info is in Japanese...

Not all my favorites but...

...some dirt for you all.

UM-3 is just another name for AA, also known as R6 type. Buy some batteries and it'll almost certainly say all three names on the battery packacking.

Thanks Mr. Arkadin, that was my original suspicion.

i paid somewhere around $300 for mine on ebay, too, so i think that's the going rate.

also, i had the same confusion over the UM-3 batts when i got mine. if they're the same don't you think they'd just put AA in the literature?

heavy mf'r, ain't it?

thanks for the welcome!

if you haven't already, search on ebay and save the search! it's pretty much the only chance ya have

my then-girlfriend (now wife) saved the search for me on ebay so it'd alert her as soon as one showed up. i was working out of state when i got the phone call. gave her my credit card number and the thing was sitting at my apartment for a week before i finally got to see it with my own eyes.

the seller lived within a few miles of us and delivered it himself... i can't fathom how much $$$ that saved me on shipping.

do any other scc-700 owners have problems making connections with straight 1/4" plugs? i had to buy new cables with right angle plugs because everything is so tight behind the computer. in fact i have to remove the power supply (easier said than done) every time i connect or disconnect the multi-pin for the foot controller. am i alone here?

not that i'm bitching, i'm a very proud owner indeed... NEENER NEENER!

Definitely no room behind the control center, and hell yeah it's heavy.

Welcome again jackderringer.
