| Does anyone know about these Humphrey CS3 mods on EBay? Are they worth paying the extra dough? |

| no problem man, personally i'd save your money and get a Keeley, thats what im working on now. Although in the meantime I do love my CS-2, but because of its association with David Gilmour, those tend to be the priciest of the CS-x series. Building your own Ross Compressor Clone at www.buildyourownclone.com is another great option. |

Hey Dingus!
I have 2 questions regarding your Humphries CS-3.
1) Can you turn the sustain all the way up, or is that a huge mess?
2) Is it easy to switch between clean and Dist/OD settings? In other words, if your CS-3 is on then you kick on a (insert favorite "dirty" pedal here) do you have to change your CS-3 settings to get it the way you want?
..OK so that's 4 questions... |

diggum12:
1) Of course you can turn the sustain all the way up, but not really. The sustain knob no longer works the way it used to pre-mod, and now it doesnt really matter if you turn it up all the way it acts like its only been turned to about 3 o'clock once you get anywhere past 3 o'clock. So its not a noisy mess, but it just doesnt act the same. It doesn't really sustain correctly anymore, after his mod.
2) I don't really remember, but I had planned on breaking out my MIJ CS-3 to compare to the Humphrey CS-3 and then a CS-2 for the hell of it. Using the same settings between the two CS-3's so you could see the drastic difference.
I haven't gotten to this yet though, so maybe later this week. |
