To avoid confusion I've decided to introduce a couple of guidelines to the buy/sell forum. These are not strict rules as there may be gray areas.
- Start a new thread when you post an ad. Don't hijack someone elses thread
- Use an appropriate title with a prefix FS, FT, FS/FT, WTB or WTT
FS = For Sale FT = For Trade FS/FT = For Sale or Trade WTB = Want To Buy WTT = Want To Trade
- Where are you located?
- Where are you willing to ship to?
- Does it come with the original box/manual?
- Include a description of the item
- Price including shipping costs
- Post SOLD when the item(s) are gone.
- Private listings only. No dealer/broker ads
- Don't try to sell anything in your first post. Write at least 10 posts in other sections before posting in the sales forum
Thanks, Borge |

It is my opinion that the rule of not listing a sale on ones first post be reconsidered. Someone may want to give us first crack at a good pedal, before they list elsewhere and that might be all that they have to say. The linked thread provides a pretty good example of such a scenario; http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5094 |

why do we have to post else where before we post in the buying/selling area?
if im going to sell something here, it is ony going to be for sale here..not on other places at the same time
its not fair to the people here, for example, if i have something offered for sale here and also on ebay..there may be someone here that is ready to purchase it and they have to contend with wondering if someone else is going o win it if it is on any other sites for sale..
i have always wondered why some people put an item up for sale on more than one site..it doesnt make sense to me
just curious............. |

This rule was introduced because there was a lot of user registering for the sole purpose of selling pedals. Some of these were professional sellers posing as private users and some even tried to advertise mobile phones. Bossarea is not primarily a site for buying or selling gear. By limiting this part of the forum to regular users, I feel that the focus of the forum is kept to guitar effects rather than business.
Hope that explains why we have this rule. |

Not sure if bossarea is questioning anyone's "trustworthiness" here...he is trying to run a forum for Boss pedal enthusiasts, a place where we can compare notes on Boss products. The "for sale/trade" part is just a sideline and should be treated as such. And as stated, the rule was put in place to curb some of the "dealers" and "phone/ipod/insert technology here" that was showing up from time to time.
While I don't quite get the whole thing, I've never been one to just show up on a forum and wanna sell something in my first post. It's just not how you go about things IMO. So in that regard I support bossarea's rule on this...after all, it is bossarea's ball and he can choose to take it home if we don't like it.
Cheers |

Yes, you're right but then again you've already posted lots so you've earned our trust and showed us you're not a spammer. After your 10th post, the rule didn't apply to you anymore. We don't know that about someone writing their first post. |

No disrespect to anyone but i vote to keep the rule as is......i enjoy all your comments even if i don't agree with them all... .. and there is other places like Ebay,Gumtree,Craigslist etc for to sell stuff.....Pedals4pv's link to that topic shows that you would encourage people to come here to make a fast buck and maybe try to start bidding wars over pedals....it caused a bit of a disagreement between pedals and Racer X as it was.... ....nah ten posts is very fair IMHO.....
P.S that guy(coeone) didn't have much in the way of a sense of humour IMHO..... |

Yes, I think the rules are good as they are. We don't need those sell sell sell people here on the forum. This is a good forum, keep it good and not to much shit. I agree with Franzoni.

| As one of those new guys, I came here to get serial number info on my Boss DC-2, which I don't use. I do have it for sale on TGP and the Gibson forum; It is a shame that I cannot post it here, as I feel that the members here would be the ones who would appreciate this pedal for what it as more than people on other boards. |

I am a new member and inadvertently placed items for sale before I knew the stipulated ten posts requirement on this forum. I am not at all offended, but rather agree with the reasoning that the purpose of the rules are to ensure that the forum's main purpose are discussions and not solely a trading post. So I, new member as I am, too vote to preserve the rules. In addition I have to say that even though I didn't fulfill some of the requirements when placing my ad, my post still wasn't just simply removed but left on the board. I think that is more than fair treatment and I appreciate it. Thank You!
