| The FZ-3 is the worst. Fuzz is Boss's weakest point. The Big Muff and other oldschool fuzzes sound five times better. |

Of the BOSS fuzzes, I liked the sound of the FZ-3 better than the other two units. The FZ-5 is adequate if not versatile but most know that other brand fuzzes sound much better. |

| Well I think its funny a lot of people hate the MT2, its one of my favourites. I'm pretty sure the worst pedal for me is the MD2, which I picked up cheap which I should sell. The other one I don't like is the CE3, too cold and too noisy. |

I concur hateandwar, the MT-2 is a fantastic pedal.
Its dual gain stages help it sound "clean" or "articulate" distortion with the bonus of parametric mids! |

Hi all OS 2 for me and what about the PW2? I also find the SG 1 very limited. |

I absolutely must defend the OS-2 & PW-2!
The OS-2 sports a nice range of tones between OD & distortion. It has remained on the pedalboard longer than any other Boss effector.
The PW-2 sits nicely between my OD-3, FZ-5, & MT-2. Its sound is very unique that can't be approximated by any other pedal. |

I agree with you on the OS-2, it is one of my favorites.
OTOH, I don't really like my PW-2. I can't get a decent tone out of it, but that says more about me as a player than it does about the PW-2.

It is a one-trick pony but it sure doesn't sound like any other pedal.
Some Boss distortion pedals can sound too much like another. At least in my chain, I had a MIT DS-1 that sounded strangely like my MT-2.. enough so that I dumped the DS-1. Of course the MT-2 can swing far with its EQ, if I can make it sound like a late-model DS-1.. why would I want a DS-1? |

I am so curious as to why you think this? Believe it or not, thats my favorite pedal I own! haha. I think it tightens up my sound very much. The distortion on my mesa is a little "round" for me, and I like it to have "edge" to it, and I think this pedal is amazing for that. The gain is only set to about 2, but it goes such a long way. What kind of music do you play? I play a type of prog metal-ish music.
If I come off as "I cant believe you think that, thats dumb!" thats not it at all! I would really like to know why. Maybe theres something out there that I would like even BETTER besides this pedal, Im always down for suggestions! Is there something other overdrive pedals have thats better than this model? Better sound? |

| I also think the SD-1 is a great pedal, used mostly as a boost after a fuzz, but it's got a nice smooth overdrive too. |

Then maybe it's not so much the pedal, but all the players I've heard so far that make it sound like shit
Usually, waaaay too much gain and a scooped mid sound is what I hear from guitar players with this pedal. Needless to say, this is not my favourite sound, we usually compare it to bees in a jar.
Clearly most of 'em don't really know what their favourite players sound like when they cite their influences, I mean, I never heard that kinda sound from the big names like Metallica, Maiden or even Slayer. |

Well put Dirk. I don't like extreme effects anyway. Tone comes from the fingers, not pedals
I can't say I'm a fan of the scooped-mids sound. Those are frequencies where the guitar shines & you really won't cut through a mix with 'em down. It makes me wonder how the mixing engineers dialed in the guitars...
