I present below a pedal ordering I like the sound of, and would like your unabashed critique.
The note (ON) means that the effect is typically always on. I am a beginner, so I have only one amp I plug into and know just enough to be dangerous.
Guitar >>> CS-3 (ON) compressor >>> LS-2 (ON) line selector. LS-2 is set on "A/B mix > Bypass", and I use both the A and B loops.
A loop: AW-3 auto wah >>> SD-1 overdrive (ON) >>> DS-1 distortion >>> MT-2 distortion
B loop: OC-3 octave >>> OS-2 (ON) >>> [ PH-3 phaser >>> BF-3 flanger ]
A&B loops >>> NS-2 noise reduction >>> CH-1 chorus (ON) >>> CE-5 chorus >>> [ now amp, but hopefully soon to delay and reverb pedals]
I like a heavy overdrive sound so hence the SD-1 and OS-2 being on. The CS-3 and CH-1 are on to add some richness and depth. In loop A, AW-3 is my "Sunshine of Your Love" sound. I switch between DS-1 if I want treble emphasis, and MT-2 if I want bass emphasis.
I really like being able to run OC-3 thru the OS-2 in Loop B and mixing this sound with Loop A. I guess I am in effect creating a sort of "two amp" sound this way. With the A/B mix, I hear the Loop A distortion on top, and then this other mellow overdriven sound hovering in the background coming from Loop B. FYI, OS-2 seems to be that pedal I have, that is the most stable when connected upstream to the OC-3. I add OC-3 whenever I want to enhance the background sound.
The CE-5 after the CH-1 allows for adding a stereo panning effect once and awhile.
Question: I am still experimenting with where to place PH-3 and BF-3. Any ideas? FYI -- I am not a serious musician. Right now I use these primarily to impress my friends with the other-worldly sounds I can produce, though they be of no practical benefit. It's fun though! As I learn to play, I likely will want to incorporate the flanger sound (since I am starting to recognize the effects used in the music I like to listen to, and want to pretend to half-way learn to play).
I look forward to receiving your comments. Thanks in advance.
