I can't find a "low friction" place to host it... I'll look into it some more. |

laurie,
can i do the STORMCHASER MOD partially? i mean, i already did steps 1,2 and 4 but used an LED and 1n4001 as replacement of the diodes.
it was like a combination of the DIEZEL and BOGNER mod.
if it is possible, what difference will result from using 2 2n700 opposed to what i did earlier?
thanks!

Hi dorothegreat
Welcome to the forum from Australia.
Respectfully, I will let Laurie answer your Question/s.
You will have to allow for the time difference between both your countries.

The 2N7000 clippers "broaden" the distortion. To my ear, it sounds like there are more frequency components, mostly spreading into the top end. You will need the tone-shaping after them in steps 7 and 8 (essentially it's adjustment of the high-cut filters and the addition of another aggressive one) so that it isn't as harsh. If you don't do that, you will need something like a GE-7 after it to take the "spike" out of it.
By all means expeirment! I know I did. I tried assymetric silicon, LEDs, Ge, you name it. The MOSFETS had the most "character". |
