Well, I lived through the flooding in Washington State. It actually took me about 5 hours to drive 25 miles home from work the other day but nothing compares to the 1/4" of water in MY basement as this:
Chehalis, Wa got fuggin' CREAMED. The pictures are literally devastating. Imagine the families turned upside down. While not as bad as Katrina, I cannot fathom how utterly inconveniently raped by mother nature I would feel...

About the worst thing that has happened to me lately is my router went kaput. |

Hi DeFrag
Thanks for the link & your pics as well.
Some parts of Australia flood like this sometimes, but thankfully not around my home.
If I find the Pics of the (NSW) New South Wales floods, I will send them to you.
Regards Dr. Bob 1800 |

That's a lot of water, happened here 50 years ago or so, hope it never happens again.
Does anyone know if boss pedals float ? Guess not.
By the way I know Chehalis from a Marcy Playground song. |

this is starting to get a lot more widespread in europe as well..... the brits seem to be getting it pretty bad most years now i'm not sure how the dutch are getting on but i think a lot of the netherlands is below sea level so i think their looking at some bad problems down the road...can't stop mother nature..... |

Hi Defrag.
I forgot to ask, how much damage did you suffer? Or how much were you, or your family/friends affected?
Sympathy to all involved.

Nasty stuff. I'm thankful not to be too near a rivr myself (well, ok - the Niagara River but if that ever crests it's banks...yikes!).
Had my basement flooded once by a faulty hose and that was a pain - can't imagine the scale of this suffering!
My sympathies to all who need them.

| Yea that was one hell of a storm, DeFrag. We did't get hit as hard as you guys south, but my power was off for a day and a half. We had a good foot of snow on the ground and then the next day rain 80cm in 12 hours. DeFrag if it wasn't for the border we would be neighbors. |

Bob, since I built my house at the bottom of a long driveway I really only get about an inch of water in my basement during very heavy rains. I sealed the cold-joint between my slab & stem-wall but missed a couple feet & that's where it percolates in. Pretty mild though.
I know one thing, if I actually LIVED in a flood zone & got hit bad, I would NOT go on TV & humbly state I'd rebuild. Forget a bunch of that. I'd move my ass outta there. Its like, no offense but if I were Ethiopian livin' in dirt eating bugs.. I'd pick a horizon & walk until I got there.
PV, we should share a bar together bub. Where exactly are ye? |

Between Ethiopia and the horizon you will find bands of genocidal, mercinary tribesmen. You may want to increase your pace from a walk to one that's a bit more up tempo. The muzzle velocity of an AK-47 is 2,330 ft/second, walk ain't going to cut it.
I'm north of the Peace arch about 30 miles just off the King George Highway, DeFrag, If you come north give me an email first. I would come to see you but I got caught with a joint in 1976 and the border guards just don't see any humour in that. |

Cool, you live only about 90 minutes north of my high school buddy's house I goto sometimes just out of Everett. We'll hook up sometime.
Doesn't your country look the other way with stuff like that? I guess you're talking about US guards eh? Growing up in Alaska, it was totally legal for a number of years. If you ask me, alcohol is much worse & others feel the same. |

Yes,
DeFrag. Canada has grey Marijuana laws. It is a situational enforcement. Though in recent years kids have been spotted smoking outside of cop stations... |
