I can't believe there's no SD-1 in this thread, at least, according to the index. So I did a twin pic of my two SD-1s for comparison. One has no serial to speak of, but does have the JRC chip. If anyone knows how to date these chips, that'd be handy - I can't find a reference anywhere.

Two SD-1s.. Left - no serial, unknown date, likely MIJ (from original purchaser's memory). Right, #267500, Jan.83. Note the difference in substrate colours.. both chips are JRC4558DD - which I'm assuming should be normal for their age.

Board from #267500. Inset: chip detail from SD-1 of unknown date. Does the code on the 4558DD help to date this in any way?

DC-2 #613300, Dec.85.

solder side.. no actual burnt look - that's photoshop to bring down the flash flare.

better view of the switches:

All the flash and flare problems I've been having when taking pics of pedals and internals makes me want to set up a little macro rig with some nice flashes.. hopefully I'll have a chance to do it during the break.

That's straightforward enough..

I was wondering about actually dating them.. The GE-7 on this page is from 1993 and its JRC4558DD is coded 32479. The Jan83 SD-1's says "2462". Can we calibrate a rough date-coding system from the JRCs in pedals with known production dates?
