I read about that. It's a coil tap switch. If you pull them up, you use only one coil of your humbucker. Hagstm builds LP's with this feature installed.

Congrats with your 200th post

That looks quite complicated. It would take ages to explore all the different sounds.

I cant agree more!
I have had paralell/series, out of phase and switching neck and bridge in paralell on a couple of strats. And sure, not for very long...
It get too much to handle, sometimes you have to try to listen where you really are
At home or in the studio, yes it has uses. But thr more possibilities the more youre going to scratch your head, sort of..

If you ever listen to guys like Bill Frisell, (lol) thirteen pos switch would not be enough!!!

I hear what you guys are saying about 'simplicity' on stage; likely once one finds the sounds they like, one might modify some of their instruments accordingly.

I have a Levinson Blade strat which has a 5-way plus a 3-way (including full bypass) active preamp, and then I added a humbucker and coil tap to it. I believe I get about 21 different sounds out of it. If I added some kind of series-parallel switching, it might go off the charts!

The PRS 513 is nice, but those that I've tried are HEAVY (like 12lb+) and expensive (~$4K).

Never saw one. $4K is too much for me. I would be afraid leaving home with such an expensive guitar.

The trouble with having too many options is deciding which ones you like otherwise you spend all your time twiddling knobs and switches and not actually playing anything much.
Ive done one of Deaf Eddies wiring mods to my strat with a push pull pot on the bottom tone so I can have 5 single coil tones and then with switch pulled up, neck-middle in series, neck-bridge in series, neck-middle-bridge in series/parallel.
The series gives a thick tone almost humbuckerish tone but for ryhthmn work I love the single coil sound with that lovely quack.
