Well, there was one up for auction a few days ago, and because I had already had a few other irons in the fire I didn't want to overextend myself... but now that those irons aren't in the fire any longer, my searches are coming up empty.

That and an OC-2 I think will round out my modest collection of audio tools. The OC-2s are quite easy to come by, but it looks like I'm in for some rough sledding with the PQ-4...

I hear you... I bid on (and lost) or watched other PQ-4s sail out of my price range before I finally bought one in '04 or early '05 (eBay, about $119 U.S. with box and manual -- my most expensive pedal). at the time, other used PQ-4s were selling in the $150 range, but since then I've seen them sell for as low as $60. personally, I think a PQ-4 will be worth the wait....

Yeah. I probably could have sniped for that last PQ-4 and won it, but I just took the plunge on a DC-2 last week, and it hasn't even arrived in the mail yet... it's probably just as well that I give the toy shopping a little bit of a rest and just wait for the next one(s) to become available. No real hurry.

Briefly owned one of the Boss graphics about twenty years ago, and then a couple of years before that I dabbled with an MXR 10-band. But I really think that I'm jonesing for the additional versatility of a parametric this time around.

I got my PQ-4 on Ebay like 3 Months ago, it's become one of my essential pedals that is always in the loop. I got it for only $60 because it was a one day auction and only one other guy bid on it

Nice catch. Hopefully I won't have to leave too many bodies in my wake the next time one goes up...

C.K. (mindful of that Electric Mistress auction from last night)

It's my turn to be the guy with more money than brains...

But now my "working" pedal collection is complete, and I'm going to be retiring from eBay for a long time. The Boss units here are: CE-2, DC-2, DC-3, DD-2 (2), OC-2, and PQ-4.

Non-Boss units: Morley volume/boost, Thomas Organ CryBaby wah-wah (w/TDK 5103 inductor), MXR Micro Amp (original), Maestro PS-1A phase shifter, and Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress.

Time to build a pedalboard...

You'll be back. You can't quit ebay that easily. C'mon, surely there are a few more things you'd like to just watch for a while?

I sent that seller an e-mail a while back because their auctions always said, "Now out of making" and suggested they say "No longer made" or "Now out of production". They never responded, but the listings changed. My little contribution to the world of ebay.

Grace and peace,

Steve

Not right away, but probably eventually I'll start looking again, or I'll just keep an eye on the listings that get posted here -- as we've noted, sometimes we get some really good ones.

But at some point in the near future I'd like to upgrade my guitar to a proper professional one -- my current one is an old cheapie functional enough for practicing on, but that's about it. So that's going to be a significant investment coming down the pike that I need to get ready for.

And, to be honest, at this point I can't see what other toys there are that I could put to use in an actual gigging situation. Mabye once I get there, I'll run into one. But I feel like I pretty much have all of the "required" stuff at this point and all of the modulation bases covered now. Could be, though, that down the road I hear something that I like the sound of better than something I currently have, and I substitute stuff in and out.

One of the reasons for building a pedalboard and switching things remotely was to govern how much real estate things on the floor in front of me takes up. The Maestro alone takes up about what four Boss pedals would, and the EM two. And then I'd like to expertiment with switching stuff in and out of loops on the fly, but the actual number of switches I'm trying to keep to a minimum so it doesn't get too overblown or complicated.

But the PQ-4 was still MAGA rare! Thankfully, they're not taking their cues from here: http://www.engrish.com

What do you mean, retiring from Ebay?
Do you mean you've found a cure for GAS? If you have you should start selling it. If not, you'll be back... soon

Just going to slow down on pedals for now -- I don't think that it ever fully leaves us, just stops every so often to catch its breath, before resuming towards its destination.

I resisted PayPal for years, fully knowing that once I got it, bidding on stuff would become too easy, and boy was I right...

Bump...

When I got my PQ-4, some days ago, I was thinking it only would be a part of my way to the whole Boss collection.

I was aware I prefer parametric EQs over graphic ones, but I don't know why I didn't think about it before...

It has become a permanent part of my setup, in less than a week. I just love it... I really can't understand WHY people don't use parametric EQs. It's SO useful...

Throw away your GE-7s, buy PQ-4 !!

My PQ-4 make my bass amp sound like a fender guitar amp. I want your fingers, if they can do that...

Do they manage to make your single pickup in neck position sound like a humbucker in bridge position, too ?

More "seriously", the debate on whether or not pedals are useful or not is yet to be closed, and I won't start it again.
