Ok. I believe you jumper D5 and R52... problem is, there are no component markings on my PCB!
So, I took my best guess and jumpered the two that seem to make the most sense: the diode right below the wires marked 3 and 4, and then the resistor immediately below that diode.
Is this correct? After the mod, the LED got brighter and the volume came back up to unity. Both great signs, but just thought I'd get the "all clear."
Also, couldn't I just jumper from the input to the diode and output of the resistor, for simplicity's sake?
Thanks!

Hi ben_allison and welcome!
"Yes" to both your questions. For some reason, during the transition period, the factory put two jumpers in, but it is simpler to put in one as you describe.
I'd also suggest storing the diode and resistor so that you can put the pedal back to original if you ever decide to sell it.

Welcome to the forum from ireland............. i use my CE-2 in a loop with some other PSA powered boss pedals..i've noticed the LED is a bit dimmer but never experienced any volume or tone loss..if anything the CE-2 gives a slight mid range boost when turned on.. i've noticed my BF-2 does something similar.... |

I use mine in an fx loop with some other ACA pedals, but the power lead daisy chains to some PSA pedals in the main line. Even so, my CE2 LED would still sometimes go dim and flickery - never a problem with the pedals it was next to. Maybe it was just fussy. I did the PSA mod and no more problem.
I also replaced the 1uF electrolytics with Mallory metal films and the rest of the electrolyics with 25V equivalents, and did the "speedy" mod since I'd already killed resale value. Made a great pedal even better without compromising the tone that made it famous. |

Sounds good.... i also use mine mixed in a line with some PSA powered boss stuff..LED is a bit dimmer but never noticed any flickering or and sound or tone loss.... does the 'speedy' mod give the arion chorus 'leslie fast speed' effect....?........... |

The speedy mod definately helps the CE2 break into Leslie territory. It's a nice easy mod too, just the one capacitor - pick smaller values for more speed, larger values for less!
I swapped the 0.1uF mylar cap (the one glued to the roof of one of the IC's... I forget which one) for a 0.047uF, which doubles the available speed without losing the original settings, i.e. the control used to go from 1-10, now it goes 1-20. |
