Been looking at the schematic and it's way simple. Can't get the old transistors, but from the operating region, it looks like any small signal NPN will work.

Has anyone made one? What sort of result did you get? Is it "close" to the original? Was it worth the effort...?

Yes, Franzoni, you are correct sir!

Laurie, here is my Prism Fuzz, which is my version of my build of the BYOC Large Beaver kit:

They have a newer version of the Large Beaver out:
http://www.buildyourownclone.com/beaver.html
And I am a bit behind, but I need to start and complete my builds of the Triangle, Rams Head, and Skankin Pickle versions of the current model. Also, check out the instructions for the parts list they use for the kits. I think its definitely worth it to DIY, as part of the reason why I am behind in building these pedals is that I have been secretly working on a DIY Esquire that I will bring to life hopefully this weekend....now back to the topic...Even if you think the BYOC kits are a bit pricy, I have built over a dozen of the kits, and they have been worth every penny. Since you are in Canada, you'll need to order the kits from here:
http://www.axeandyoushallreceive.com/
And even if you don't order the pedals, check out axe and you shall receive because Scott has all kinds of cool sh!t and is a cool guy.

Thanks for the info! But I'm definitely going to "do it myself" if I do it - I have nearly all the parts in the parts bin, and I'll just slap it on some vero-board.

I guess my real question (with the benefit of hindsight) was has anyone done it that way - not used a kit, but cobbled one together out of "modern" transistors and parts? And what did they find for sound quality?

Hi Jack & Guys

The Prism Fuzz always looked cool.
If I remember correctly, you even came in the top 5 or 10 for,
presentation, Did you win some kind of prize?

Any chance of some internal pics & track side as well, for the "pedal internals thread"?

I just realized I'm asking you, for pictures of your BYOC Large Beaver

Regards Dr. Bob
