What do you guys think? THE CH-1 / CE-5 Analog or Digital versions.

I'm thinking of trying one of the analogs but i wanted some opinions.

I too like analogue for this type of thing but people on the forum who have tried both versions digital vs analogue said there is little or no difference in either the CH-1 or the CE-5..... to be honest i have a analogue CH-1 and was lucky enough to ge my hands on a MIJ CE-2...IMHO the CE-2 is the big daddy of boss chorus pedals, and is the one that resides on my board these days.. unless your lucky enough to get your mitts on a CE-1.......

Interestingly... Ive sworn by the CE-5 analogue for a long time and was using two of them in my stereo rig for about a year, but I repaired a damaged CE-5 digital a while ago and was more than mildly surprised. It actually has some life/sparkle the analogue version is lacking. I'm almost converted to the digital version - but not quite (more because i have an emotional attachment to analogue than anything I think).

I owned both versions of the CE5 at the same time.

It cemented my belief that analog is just mostly hype.
I couldn't tell any difference on any setting, or any volume.
In a double blind test I doubt if anyone would know which was being used.

However I sold them both on eBay, and the analog version sold for about 20% more money.

I now prefer the more versatile CE20.

I have two analog CE-5s. Don't have a digital version so I can't comment on the differences.

But I do have two old CE-2s. I guess the reason for this post is twofold...1) I actually prefer a CE-5 over the CE-2 in my rig, and 2) I know I'm gonna get flamed for point #1.

I have both models of the ce5. The only Thing that sets them apart to my ears is the digital gets noisy with the high and low eq set kinda high and with any distortion. The analog dosent get noisy at all even when it's maxed on the eq.

Having used one, I never felt the CE2 was all it's cracked up to be... it seemed to be a very overated/over-hyped pedal.
I'll never buy one again.
And that's from someone who uses Chorus on just about anything!

I'm also a chorus nut with an MIJ green label and SS black label, and tend to agree..

As for the CH-1, I've played through an analog model which to my ears was nice, crisp, not thick as a CE-2, but not thin/sterile sounding either..

Hi everyone!

I have a ce-5 analogue one, and it sounds very warm and beaufiful chorus.

I did a little mod on it: I replaced the c22 capacitor to 22pf capacitor one (the original had 5pf) and what a change!
Now it sounds more full, organic and gives a incredible lush chorus.

For more details, read the article by Dan Wiley on this link:

About the digital i've heard its a little colder than the analogue.

Best regards

I've not tried an analog CE-5 but my digital CE-5 is a bit too sterile for my tastes. It is a versatile pedal but I'm not a massive chorus user though, I'm more about distortion and reverb, so I tend to use the pedal on with only mild effects levels.

I actually don't have a problem with digital choruses, but the analog CE-5 & CH-1 do have a nice coloring that makes them different. Less highs and & a little warmer midrange - the kind of things that guitar players like about analog stuff. I can get get digital chorus sounds all day long from my ME-50 & GT-Pro, so I decided to keep an analog CE-5 just to have something a little different.
