Well my old Kustom Lead II amp has a blown speaker. So I'll be needing to replace it, and I was hoping to get some suggestions on a good pair of 12s.
Also the screw hole for my strap button on the bottom of my favorite guitar is becoming stripped. Is there an easy fix? I don't want to have to drill a new one. |

you can fill the hole with little toothpick-sized splinters of hardwood (toothpicks if they're not bamboo). Add a little glue if you wish before putting the screw back in. That usually does the trick.. clean up any excess and let it sit (or don't).
speakers.. FANE! or some Eminence with appropriate character (cannabis rex, etc). OR some Celestion if you can guarantee it's made in the UK (most are Chinese now). |

As long as the screw itself isn't actually stripped of threads, the easy fix to this, and I have done it a few times, is to stick a toothpick in the hole, break or cut it so its flush with the body, then put the strap button screw back in, and it should be nice and tight. If not, you may need to use 2 toothpicks... |

Great minds think alike, and at about the same time too... |

If you play rock music you NEED a pair of Celestion speakers, my favourites are the vintage 30's, 70 watts each with a bit more mids and less shrill highs than the standard 75 watt model that Marshall uses for instance.
This is a very loud and efficient speaker, at around 100 dB so you'll need little power for lots of volume. And it cuts great through a bandmix.
Or, to quote Marty Friedman:
"If you're not using Celestion, you're not really playing" |

Toothpicks are great! I've used them for years. Especially if you by straplocks that come with different thread screws. |

| A more permanent approach is to buy some 1/4 inch dowel and drill out the hole to 15/64. Use some wood glue and gently tap the dowel into the 15/64 hole. Allow to dry, drill for the screw, and good as new... |
