Well Laurie, I think I have it as good as it will get. I added a 100Uf to ground after the 100 ohm resister that I put inline with the 9v supply line and it is decent, at least up to the level of volume I can bring the amp up to right now which is probably a very small club volume. I went back over all the grounding points and can't seem to see anything out of the ordinary. I absolutely hate not being able to find the answer. Any ideas you think of please let me know. Thanks,
I ended up just using a known good battery as the only male ended power supply I have is for my holy grail and it is WAY noisy with the 601. I'm now just trying a few combinations of different standard op amps to see what happens.
Ok, so I found a service manual site and placed an order for one in pdf. format from Europe. Don't know how long it will take to receive but I'll be posting it for you when it gets here and maybe that will help with ideas. $29.....oh well. The pedal was a gift anyway. I just can't leave this alone until the noise is better, plus learning about my pedals and the circuit functions has proven to be really interesting although foreign to me.
As promissed, the 601 schematic. Still trying to reduce high frequency hissing at higher volumes. I have ended up with the opa opamps as well as 1 4580. Seems to be the quietest combo. Any ideas of areas to try?
