For some reason when I use the pedal, it doesn't want to turn off the first time I hit the switch. It doesn't do this all the time, but enough to be bothersome.
Anyone else have similar issues? Other pedals doing this to anyone? |

| my DD-5 and some other peoples digi delays do something sort of similar. whenever i plug in my AC, the DD-5 turns on and wont shut off for about 5 seconds afterwards, no matter how many times i step on the switch. is this what you mean? or does it not turn off in the middle of a session? |

as with DD-2/3; dd-5 owner's manual has a special note under "Power On" about a special circuit protector and therefore, unit must be powered on for a few seconds before it will operate normally. With a DD-2/3, you cannot get it to turn on for a few seconds which seems to be opposite to what sphere says about his dd5 |

you may have a partially malfunctioning switch, something in the battery box interfering with full motion of the pedal (i.e. the batter snap lead may be folded up ontop the battery thereby not allowing the footpedal to move down far enough), or an electronic problem in the switching (FET) circuit itself.
Simple Test: make sure battery install is clean with no interference of the pedal travel or spring caused by the battery leads. While you are in there, see if the swith works consistently by pushing it with your finger while the pedal is open. if the switch works fine like this (try it like 50 times quickly), and if you put the pedal back on, and it has not cured the problem, the switch post itself maybe damaged because it doesn't protrude HIGH enough when installed so pushing down on the pedal doesn't activate it - you would either need a new switch OR glue a small piece of plastic (punch a broken guitar pick with a paper punch and glue that to the top of the switch post so the switch is a little bit taller so to speak).
If the above doesn't cure the problem, the switch might be physically damaged (contacts worn out??? never seen this but could happen) or there is problem in swithc circuit. there is an electronic flip flop in that circuit and if it doesn't get the pulse to flip or flop it doesn't. this would be an easy fix for someone who can read the circuit diagram and debug same.
With these pedals though, if the problem is intermitent and electronic in nature (no obvious failure, burnout on the circuit board,) they can be a pain to fix by trial and error. A boss pedal expert could probably fix this problem in half an hour / $50. If you are patient, you could probably replace your DD-3 on eBay for $60-$80 on a good day. May consider upgrading it to DD5 or 6 even. If its a MIJ dd-3. you'd probably get 40-50 for it on eBay in its current condition.
Intermittent pedals are so maddening one just wants to chuck'em in the bin. Even a totally dead pedal with a burn circuit board (as long as you did't us an incompatible powersupply to cause the problem) dies a more respectful death than an intermittent pedal! |

My DD-6 does this, as does my HM-2. |
