Just in case I'm not the last person on the planet to figure this out, Windows Media Player has a "Slow Playback" mode that is (pretty) pitch correct. I was having a tough time with a lead line tonight that I even have tab for. I remembered that WMP has a fast playback mode, so I decided to check for a slow mode. It was huge! Really helped me nail it down.

Hi phostenix

Thanks for sharing this great tip, with all the members here.

It will be very useful when trying to figure out riffs,
or jam to tracks that are slightly off key.

Regards Dr. Bob

Your not the last, I may be but you're not. I've never seen that feature before.

But will it play backward? I haven't heard an "evil message in the backward played Rock & Roll" conspiracy theory since the CD's came out.

But there are some messages hidden in some modern songs. Take Me Out from Franz Ferdinand has one (Call your mother, she worries about you.), for example. Not that evil...

Hi Witloofboer, pedals 4 pv & Guys

=== Sligtly off topic ===
In the trade, this is called:
(BackMasking, Back masking, Back-Masking).

Perhaps we should start a new thread on song & bands that have used:
BackMasking in their music.

It's as interesting subject, I was involved on a paid project many many years ago, to reverse a whole bunch of music to see if contained back masking.

If & when you start a new thread, I'll write about the ones that I know of.

Regards Dr. Bob

I think you need a Mac to do that.

More info:

I failed to mention that you right-click on the Play button for the speed choices.

By default, Slow Playback is half speed. There seems to be a possibility to adjust that in the Play Speed Settings tool, but I can't seem to change anything.

Doh! You have to be playing a song in WMP to change the speed settings....

In WMP 11, click on the little arrow under the Now Playing button & choose Enhancements>Play Speed Settings. Uncheck "Snap slider to common speeds" and use the slider to adjust to whatever speed you want.

It's a little more difficult to find the settings in WMP 12. You have to be in "Now Playing" mode first (icon in the bottom right corner if you are in Libaray mode) & right-click in a blank place of the player to get the Enhancements>Play Speed Settings option.

they also has fast play back. So when you feel like drinking about a dozen Red Bulls and feel like playing. It works for that too.
