| I was in best buy with the woman getting a new hard drive for her laptop.. went to the music section and had her playing guitar for the first time. Taught her a Em and A chord i couldn't believe that she could do it and it was clean sounding.Maybe might teach her if she wants to play |

You're lucky Zerksies... I'd love to teach my GF to play guitar, but she's just not interested . I even promised to buy her a nice guitar and teach her to play the music she likes listening to... |

I guess you'd have to buy her a guitar to teach her. After previous discussions about you being a lefty I decided to try playing a lefty guitar in my local guitar shop yesterday. I was absolutely hopeless. I'm a reasonable guitarist as a righty - I'm no Hendrix but I'm competent. However, playing wrong-handed for me felt much worse than when I started playing as a righty. My right hand was ok at forming chord shapes, although very slow, but I just can't strum with my left - at all! |

WOW i can't beleive that you tried that.I try that once and a while. I think i meant just try out a lefty but play righty, you can see the discomfort that i have to go through with an upside down instrument |

My wife plays bass, keys, woodwind etc., and sings a bit. She does play guitar, but "doesn't do chords". Her music theory is far better than mine too.
We write & perform all our own music together and have done so even before we got married, which was over 10 years ago now.
She tends to leave most of the technical production side of things to me though, usually just chipping in with constructive critcism. |

That sounds like an awesome arrangement PaulH!
I have a friend who is in a great band with his GF, they both sing and write songs. He's a guitarist and she plays keyboards and drums. I must admit that I'm slightly envious of his situation... |

Here's a slightly different take on this one.
My daughter (17 years old) has sung twice with my band (a Joss Stone song both times) and went down every bit as well as we do! Our regular singer and the rest of the guys added the backing vocals - it was an ambition achieved for me and something I'll never forget.
Luckily, our sound guy for the night took a feed off the desk and recorderd that particular set, so I've got a record of the gig. I think I sent the file to Dr. Bob and he liked it too.
I've also got her into guitar playing - I just showed her some basic chords and she's taken it on herself now. I bought her an acoustic (a nice Taylor 114) but first I got her a Daisy Rock Elite, Crimson Burst - a very tasty guitar with a wicked front pickup. She's never been keen on electric though and prefers the Taylor.
She's performed a couple of acoustic songs in Spanish at her school but I haven't yet persuaded her to join her dad on stage moshing out the guitar riffs with her Daisy Rock - still working on it.
BTW for the hell of it - here's her Daisy Rock and the Taylor (which I frequently nick to have a quick strum of)...

I believe the Daisy Rock stuff is owned/made by Schecter, and I have heard its not bad, though it is marketed more towards the ladies... |

I would kind of thought that. But you know if i was still playing actively i would be rocking a dasiy rock.Playing the most complicated jazz tunes that i could think of.Just cause it would not be right.Do they make them lefty? |

They do make the Daisy Rock Elite as a lefty zerksies...

Whilst it was a birthday present for my daughter, I bought her a half decent guitar just in case she didn't get on with it and then I could use it. It was a good choice because I've got smallish hands and it's about the only guitar that I can do a reasonably good Paul Gilbert style shred fest on.
I know it's wrong, but I am so tempted to take it along to a gig and bring it out when nobody expects it and play 'All Right Now' or 'Smoke on the Water' or something - that could be a laugh to see my bandmates' reaction to a pink guitar (but it wouldn't let me down)
Seriously, it's a very good guitar and it's coil-tapped, so it's pretty versatile too. It's light and the only thing I struggled with was the balance on a strap - it's heavy towards the headstock.
The Taylor btw was a really, really lucky break - the store threw it in for next to nothing when I bought my Gibson ES335 and they let my daughter try it in the store room on her own so that she was under no pressure - a fantastic store and score |

Me too zerksies - right at this minute I have it in my hands going through a Nobels ODR-1 Overdrive (early green version & a very under rated pedal) into a Marshall JVM combo and the solo in 'All Right Now' sounds sweet! |

I have a friend who owns a Daisy Rock 12-string electric... He covered up the brand with tape so that no-one can tell he's usuing a girl's guitar. I wonder how he'd handle playing a Hello Kitty Strat....
