hello all. i hardly use rack gear, but am the owner of an RDD-10 delay micro rack. the sound is great, but my problem is, whenever im playing, and i touch the ac input cord or patch cord, it makes a huge "short out" noise. it is very loud, and unnatural. i know rack gear is touchy, but im pretty sure this is a problem with the unit..anyone hear of this or something similar?

| Sounds like a dry joint or an earth fault somewhere. If you're competent with electronics then it's very easy to fix but if not, best to get it serviced by a techie! |

disconnect the power; open the case and use say a popsicle stick split in half lengthwise, and gently look for anything. Take a HI-RES digital photo FIRST (say 5megapixels or up) so you can put things BACK to how they were.
most intermittent failures are probably someting loose that is subject to vibration; aslo, when the case is open, plug your patchcords in and out and make sure that when the contacts move, they don't rub agains someting else inside the case. |

| i just opened her up this morning. i noticed nothing out of place. before i said when i jostle the patch cord or the ac input, it buzzes out. but today i noticed that it buzzes even when i turn a knob too fast, or nudge the unit even slightly. im thinking its a problem with the AC input, but like i said, everything seemed to be in place. |

I think I heard something back when they came out that the cirquit boards were a bit unreliable. My sampler-delay turned gradually bad at the connectors. It turned out that most everything was loose inside. I think it was like the actual cirquit board was like a piece of plastic with a sticker on. When the sticker (with all the flat wiring) was loose there was no more contact with the components. The fix was easy by resoldering all points with the sticker.
The other delay (w pitch) leaked 50Hz to the sound from the AC adapter. The fix was to use a better AC adapter. |

| thanks for the advice, erik. actually a few weeks ago i opened her up again to take a look. i did nothing to the unit, but when i plugged it in it worked fine. this time i used a Boss PSA adapter...? this could have been my problem the whole time. before i was using a Zoom 300 mA adapter. |

hi,
i also have a problem with my rdd 10.
i can hear something like a "hum" at the output. it arrives with a fade in when i switch the power on.
i use a boss adapter.
any idea?
